Ordination of Fr. Tias Augustine Gomes, CSC

Fr. Tias Augustine Gomes, CSC, was born on August 23, 1990, at Bangalhowla village under Tumilia parish. He made his first profession on November 1, 2014, and made his final profession of vows on August 28, 2021. The next day he was ordained as a deacon. After diaconate ministry and experiences at Pirgacha parish, he has ordained a priest on December 30, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Church, Tumilia by the Most Rev. Archbishop Bijoy N. D’Cruze, OMI, Archbishop of Dhaka. Along with him, another diocesan priest was ordained in the same parish. On this auspicious occasion Bishop emeritus Most Rev.

Theotonius Gomes, CSC, Fr. George Kamal Rozario, CSC, the Provincial of Sacred Heart of Jesus Province, Bangladesh, and more than 80 priests were present from the different Congregations and dioceses in the Holy Mass. There was also a good number of religious and more than 600 laypeople attended the Mass. Archbishop in his sermon he spoke that a Priest is a blessing for the Church and the people of God. The priest is with the responsibility to preach God and continue to be with God to establish the Kingdom of God on earth. Archbishop told to the newly ordained priests that they should follow the footsteps of Jesus, understand the signs of the time and live a holy life. Archbishop also urges people to support and pray for newly ordained priests and the priests and religious working for the Kingdom of God. After the Mass, there was a reception program for the newly ordained Priests and Archbishop. After the reception Program, there was lunch for people who attended the mass at the parish premises. The next day, the newly ordained priest offered his first Mass at the Church. Here mentionable that there was Holy Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and a blessing program on December 29 evening at the parish.
