St. Joseph Feast day celebration 2021 at Moreau House

With jovial enthusiasm and prayerful ambiance, a common gathering of the Holy Cross Scholastics and the Moreau House Community (Fathers and staff members) celebrated the Solemn Feast Day of St. Joseph, a Patron of our Congregation, on 19th March, 2021, at Rampura. To prepare for the day with due honor and adequate devotion, a traditional nine day Novena was held on the days leading up to the feast.  Fr. James C. Cruze, CSC, the Provincial of Sacred Heart Jesus Province and the other Holy Cross Priests, Scholastics and staff arranged a festival program for the community day.  To share communal joy among the group, a friendly basketball match was organized on the playground of Moreau House.

Later, at the evening Eucharist, Fr. James Clement Cruze, CSC, the main celebrant, highlighted the meaning of the day and pointed to the significance of silence in our religious life as we see in the contemplation of the life of St. Joseph. In addition he emphasized, “St. Joseph had to pass through a long distance carrying Mother Mary and new born child Jesus to set out for Egypt. As such, today we must keep our eyes to the paternal heart of St. Joseph who is not only the model of the church but also the patron of our congregation particularly for the brothers. Hence, on this gala moment, we convey our best wishes to our loving brothers and pray for them that they may have abundant blessings from the St. Joseph.” Subsequently, an enjoyable meal was shared in the community and with due homage Fr. Tom McDermott, CSC remembered Fr. Joseph Peixtto, CSC who died in February and called him our “newest saintly Joseph.”  At the end of the day, Fr. Proshanto Cruze, CSC, the director of Holy Cross Scholasticate, thanked God and everyone present for making the program of the day meaningful and enjoyable.
